I have been on the road for several days due to a new grandbaby.
I needed something to refresh my spirit from all the traveling where I logged close to 1,000 miles once again.
The beautiful beach in the evening sunlight was just the right place at the right time.
While I was gone we got almost three inches of rain up on the White Oak.
We needed the rain along with a break from the heat. Seeing temperatures in the sixties is a little unusual in August on the coast, but the coolness was welcome.
I wasn’t very surprised since my trip had included a visit to Roanoke, Va. where I actually saw the mercury drop into the low fifties.
I am ready for the summer to wind down a little. The heat has warmed the water nicely.
It is actually time for the water to cool off a little which of course will make fishing even better if we are lucky.
Getting up to see all the trees and vegetation with a full dose of moisture is always a pleasure.
Part of the enjoyment is that when we get a serious rain, I don’t have to water. The other part is the freshness that the rain brings seems to give everything a shot in the arm.
I did manage to make it over to the White House on the west side of Swansboro so I could pick up some farm fresh eggs. I enjoy watching their free range hens. Their eggs are some of the best that I have ever had. They are open Friday through Sunday. You can call for more information at (910) 326-3049.
On my way back I stopped by 911 Restoration in Cedar Point to pick out a beer to have with a steak that I am planning on grilling Sunday night. It’s a great spot to find a special brew. My expertise in tea doesn’t go far beyond a class of the Wine of the South, Iced Tea.
Beer is another case all together. 911 Restoration’s phone number is 252 354-7911.
If you are looking for some beach pictures to hold you until your arrival here on the coast, I recommend my Coastal NC Collection or my Emerald Isle Beach Walk. If you are a fisherman you might want to try Mackerel Morning or Anniversary Fishing.
Finding your own private beach is a great way to enjoy the Crystal Coast. It is one of the things we residents enjoy the most.
If you don’t believe that this is a farming area, you should check out the aggressive soybeans that are growing on west Firetower Road not far from the intersection with Peletier Loop.
I should have some fresh pictures soon now that I am back on the coast and don’t have to suffer through those Roanoke, Va sunrises.
